Cosmic event in London
The previous post has received a few updates, as reviews and other stuff has arrived, but we lacked a programme in Liverpool, and now we have one.
Seems someone else may have played Burroughs in Liverpool and London (?) and so on, but this gives a rough guide, and certainly more information than we had at the Find The Others festival.

Again, this post may get updated with further information, reviews, etc - as they come in.

And this is more or less a summary of the whole show...rather than a review:

This just in... events in Liverpool last weekend
23 As 142 de l'Ere Pataphysique
Early reports of the Wilson festival imply that it counts as an astonishing moment in time.
Our Reporter, Bogus, remains a bit inarticulate at the moment (he claims he got possessed by a Pooka) but tells us that the play previewed on Friday night, when the cast and technicians had still not completed a full run of the material, to a knowing audience of maybe 80-100 (?). He says it knocked everybody out - and a buzzing atmosphere of glee, fatigue, elation and success pervaded the later part of the evening.
Given that brilliant start the atmosphere on Saturday, with the show going on in the afternoon, felt electric - as more and more people mingled in the bar of the Camp and Furnace - old friends and new.
By the time everyone had settled themselves in, and the place felt jammed, it seemed like we would just take off. For the actors, I guess, playing it to a crowd in the preview had given it that that final edge, to go for it, and what had been a great show the night before just went through the roof - the actors excelled themselves, Scott MacPherson's projected scenery from Amoeba blew people's minds, and the music (both recorded and live - our own Steve Fly on drums) carried us along on a wave; the audience listened intently to catch every word, unless in the mood to participate, and the jokes lifted the roof, especially the in-jokes. And, of course, Alan Moore as F.U.C.K.U.P. turned up unexpectedly ("Come not in that form!")
Again, Saturday night (the Papal Ball) filled with celebratory moments, hilarity and new friendships.
On Sunday, for the Find The Others conferestival, the whole building opened out, with an art gallery (Doris, Ken Campbell's parrot, as artist-in-residence, with three of her pieces on display), a cinema, a big room for talks, and the main hall with interactive spaces like the Maybe Logic Academy dome (from Immersive Theatres), a stall from the News From Nowhere bookshop of Liverpool, performances and workshops on both the main and side stages, Chapel Perilous, a herbalist, etc.
Sadly, our reporter failed to fill a notebook with proper cast lists, names of performers, artists, etc, so we await coherent details with interest. You will find some pics and other great stuff on the Facebook page for the play. Also here, on Jonathan Greet's Flickr page, which contains hundreds (literally) of fantastic images of the play. Here you can see the cast at the end.
Ecstatic review from the Psychedelic Press UK.
Interview with Daisy from the Psychedelic Press
Review from Liverpool Confidential
Greg Wilson's reality tunnel (Liverpool DJ)
Audio interview on Litopia, with Daisy Campbell and John Higgs... Very funny 50 minutes.
The final, surprise event, occurred after Robin Ince's hilarious set to a packed house, when John Higgs told us that the announced talk and panel had been cancelled because he wanted to send us the the main hall, where Daisy Eris Campbell and Greg Donaldson had impulsively decided to get married (and why not?)
You can find the text of John's planned speech on his blog, with some wonderful new pictures of RAW.
And the party continued. By the end of it, even Harvey looked a bit overwhelmed.

Kerry Thornley double?
Over the coming weeks
we're going to be profiling some of the characters you'll be enjoying in the
Cosmic Trigger play, and thought it apt to begin with Kerry Thornley because we
will be holding:
A LIVE AND PUBLIC AUDITION EVENT
FOR THE PART OF KERRY THORNLEY
CO-FOUNDER OF THE CHURCH OF DISCORDIA
AT LIVERPOOL EVERYMAN ON OCTOBER 23RD!
FOR THE PART OF KERRY THORNLEY
CO-FOUNDER OF THE CHURCH OF DISCORDIA
AT LIVERPOOL EVERYMAN ON OCTOBER 23RD!
So please, if you think you or someone you know could be right for this fantastic part (and is available for the bulk of November), get in touch. The idea will be to turn up as 1970s Kerry Thornley, so do your research and come prepared for High Chaos...
So, Kerry Thornley, please step forward...
One of the 1960 Counterculture's most fascinating characters, Kerry Wendell Thornley was a writer, philosopher, Zen dishwasher, enlightened prankster, and, possibly, an Oswald double with disturbing ties to the Kennedy assassination.
A lifelong provocateur, Thornley was linked to many of the fringe elements of the time. He co-created The Discordian Society which worships Eris Goddess of Chaos, and its tract, the Principia Discordia. He coined the term "paganism", befriended Robert Anton Wilson, inspired the Illuminatus, and gave his anarchic support to the Bavarian Illuminati, a brilliant prank.
But Thornley's path also crossed Lee Harvey Oswald's. It's a fact that the two served together in the Marines and that Thornley wrote a book about Oswald before the assassination. Were they both used by foes of JFK? Jim Garrison came to think so, driving Kerry through the gates of Chapel Perilous and into a world of paranoia - or not...
"If I'd known it was all gonna come true, I'd never have chosen that bitch Eris, I'd've chosen Venus!"
The above adapted from "The Prankster and the Conspiracy" by Adam Gorightly, Discordian expert and special guest speaker at Find the Others Festival.
Next featured character: Dr Timothy Leary.
Hail Eris!

A quick hit of RAW doing a hilarious presentation
At The Prophets' Conference - December 2000 in Palm Springs - if you have another hour...
According to Richard Metzger, in Wilson and I
"The RAW fans contingent in Palm Springs were totally distinct from everyone else present (goths and cyberpunk vs New Agey senior citizens who wanted to hear about Pleiadian prophecy and 2012 Mayan stuff, which Bob just hated). Bob got really ripped on hard alcohol before his talk and swore like a sailor, which seemed to deeply offend the organizers of the event. We ended up hanging out in his hotel suite, smoking pot. A young guy had given him a bag of these black psilocybin mushrooms which he’d managed to smuggle into America from Ireland, which Bob didn’t really seem to want and gave to me (my god were they strong). It was in Palm Springs that I got to see firsthand how bad his post-polio syndrome had gotten. He was getting pretty wobbly on his feet, but this did not seem to dampen his enthusiasm in the least for copious amounts of Marlboro reds, whiskey and weed.
Mentally he was certainly as sharp as ever, that never changed, but his health seemed to go downhill quite fast in the years I knew him. The aforementioned “enthusiasms” were often consumed with rapacious gusto for a man of his age and he once revealed to me that since nearly everyone who he had ever loved in his life was already dead, he was going to smoke as many cigarettes and pound back as much Scotch as he damn well pleased. Bob’s your uncle!"

Ten Years After - Welcome to The Dog Days
Just ten years ago today (by the Gregorian Calendar) the Maybe Logic Academy opened its doors, so that students from around the world could study with Robert Anton Wilson [aka RAW, or just Bob], and he wouldn't have to move about so much to do his workshops (as travelling had become harder for him, however much he enjoyed it).
When the doors opened a motley crew strolled or tumbled in: dopers, smokers and midnight tokers; people into music or magick or writing; pranksters, jokers and tricksters; rappers, jugglers, drummers and all sorts of other entities and critters.
The whole project might have worked differently these days (due to the acceleration of technology), with Skype and such, but the classes in 2004 operated through a series of forums.
Without face-to-face signals, communicating only in text, it seems easy for online study groups and forums to invite trolls and hecklers, and fall into negative thinking and other forms of stupidity.
Ten years on, the MLA remains in memory as the most intelligent, funny and interesting group of people I [aka Bogus] have mingled with online. It seems sad (but perhaps inevitable) that it faded somewhat, especially after Bob died, and people drifted away.
Bob's only guideline for his study forums still seems valid for online communications:
Many of us remain in touch, and some of us have since met up. We still collaborate on projects. At the time we created 14 editions of an online magazine, and one hard copy - we also created our own currency, just to make Bob smile.
As part of the planned festival for RAW, surrounding the launch of the Cosmic Trigger play in Liverpool in November, some of us decided we might run a sample nine-week course, a taster, just a glimpse of the variety of things we feel lucky enough to have studied together with RAW.
We plan to maybe revive the MLA website, and put together a collaborative course, of which more news sooner or later. Hopefully, some of the old alumni may re-appear, and we can introduce some new faces to the whole area of study we managed to work through in those precious 30 months with Robert Anton Wilson.
A glimpse at the history of the MLA.

Cosmic Trigger - locked and loaded
This morning one huge contribution from James Midgley took the Indiegogo funding over the target amount, with two days to go!
If you want the perks, you can probably still contribute (the project can never have too many bio-survival tickets, I reckon).
