On a Lighter Note

I should emphasise that the title of the previous post did not refer to the porn film with Marilyn Chambers, or to the music of Flogging Molly, but to a song of my childhood, sung by Jim Lowe (probably a drug song, or maybe dating from Alcohol Prohibition, but who knew in 1957?)

Midnight
one more night without sleepin' -
Watchin'
till the morning comes creepin'.
Green door
what's that secret you're keepin'?

There's an old piano and they play it hot behind the green door
Don't know what they're doin'
But they laugh a lot behind the green door.
Wish they'd let me in
So I could find out what's behind the green door.

Knocked once
tried to tell 'em I'd been there
Door slammed
hospitality's thin there.
Wonder just what's goin' on in there.

Saw an eyeball peepin' through a smokey cloud
Behind the green door
When I said ”Joe sent me”
Someone laughed out loud behind the green door.
AII I want to do is join the happy crowd behind the green door.

Midnight, one more night without sleepin',
Watchin' till the mornin' comes creepin'.
Green door, what's that secret you're keepin?
(Coda:)Green door, what's that secret you're keepin?
Green door!

Oh and not Cellar Door, either. (well, maybe)

Behind the Green Door

Antero’s AngelTech class has proved as stimulating as we hoped. He has set us plenty of interesting tasks that get us away from the keyboard and monitor, as well as offering plenty of subjects for discussion with quick, sensitive and witty feedback.

I don’t feel that all of the 77 participants have spoken up yet, but I hope they have found time to do at least some of the exercises, and fill in their workbook.

For myself, I feel that the material may keep me busy for months afterwards, so if external circumstances (or inner resistance) prevent me from completing all the tasks to my satisfaction, I know I have lots to consider and to try out during the later part of the year.

Sorry if this sounds very abstract. For anyone who does know the kind of material under review, we spent last week considering the 1st Circuit (bio survival) and its link to the 5th Circuit (body rapture)…and this week we have explored 2nd Circuit (status and territory) and 6th circuit (self meta-programming, psychic).

For those of you to whom this sounds like gibberish, I will offer a couple of links to online material about this most useful mental model.
Wikipedia might give you a good glimpse of Leary’s original model.

Future Hi offer Leary’s Theory through the filter of Robert Anton Wilson

Returning to Antero’s Paratheatrical work, you might find his comments on the 8 different kinds of trance (different states of mind) intriguing.

Letting Go

Purity in Awarity isn’t about clarity or mental dexterity,
It’s letting go of security in exchange for anonymous obscurity,
Embracing uncertainty, full bore unsurity,
Making a rarity, a scarcity, of consensus reality.
The absence of polarity brings about gestalt inclusivarity,
Infinite possibility spiraling out from Alternity,
Melding into the mystery that is me,
Eternally.

Thoughts are for Thinking

We are all relative programmers, programming each other at all times. We are all satisfaction machines, constantly attempting to satiate our insatiability. On auto-pilot, we satisfy as best we can our pattern recognition system, which operates from fear/love. We are always holding on to something. Something is always at stake. Death is already here. What is there to be scared of?

Fear is the name for the mechanism of action through which contraction takes hold. All mask emotions stem from fear.

Love is the name for the mechanism of action through which expansion takes hold.

Mask emotions serve the purpose of a decoy. If one is not able to experience emotions closer to truth, a level of emotion farther from truth will be experienced, for your ego's safety, to cover up the more expansive (but more ego decimating) truth of Love. Mask emotions create and perpetuate a sense of duality and tension in day to day life. They are created through psychological projection of one's own insecurities and fears. All that is ever truly experienced are your own projections. If you are full of hate, you will surround yourself with an energy field of hate, and the world will appear hateful. If you are open to Love, Love will be open to you.

This is the story of the ever-evolving struggle between contraction and expansion, The No-Flows vs. The Flow. It's an incredible absurdity, all based on the identification of the (Ego) with (Form (including language, thought, and any other structured symbolic offspins thereof)).
Naturally, evolutionarily, we've got no choices. The only constant is the quality of impermanence.

Attachment is like trying to swim upstream. Structure is innately repression. Control is innately contraction.

It seems to me like the fear is of knowing one’s own unadulterated grandeur.

Maybe Safari #213?

Random neural firings...

In America's "self-help society", we like to throw technology at everything. Even the stress that technology causes can be cured by more technology. Of course, there are all kinds of "aids" and books, etc. to help you relax.

It's funny 2 "stumble upon" a look beyond the haze of social conditioning... perhaps a new religion? Or maybe just a loco trip into new age craziness?

Do you choose the right hand? Or the left?

With glass beads? Or dice? Are you game for a Game?

Are you awake? Are you asleep?

Do I? Do you?

All is Truth

Mind and Matter are but one, inextricably linked unit. There is not matter without the mind to perceive it, just as there is not mind without matter to be perceived.

Matter without mind is a mirror, lest a beholder. What then is to be reflected? The mirror is imageless.

Mind without matter is a stream without land. Mind, then, would not manifest, as the stream, then, would be an infinite, shore-less, ocean.

Mind and matter act upon each other, as a stream acts upon the Earth and vice-versa. The stream erodes the land, it smoothes the rocks, yet all the time it flows; seemingly guided by the land that is truly just as much guided by the stream.

Is it the water that shapes the riverbed, or is it the riverbed that shapes the water? I say it is neither, because one does not exist without the other. The riverbed is not given shape without the water, just as the water is not given shape without the riverbed. They are one and the same.

Just as time and space can not be uttered separately and so we say: “Space-Time” we should also be saying: “Mind-Matter”.

If we follow this train of thought for a great enough distance we see, however, that there is not a thing that can be separated. This is because anything we can possibly imagine can not be separated from all of the other things that we know. So, then we say the mind is the source of all things, since the mind seems to give rise to perception, but it is impossible to know the mind alone. We only see a reflection of the mind. The best we can do is to acquire hints about its nature; it’s essence.

This essence is that upon which all manifestation occurs. That upon which all structures are projected, and all maps are imposed.

All of reality, is but one.

NoThing can be taken as individual, it is all a part of the whole. We can only see parts in relationship to the other parts. Anything that has meaning only has that meaning in relationship to these other parts that form the very same whole. How then can we judge anything? It will only be judged in the context of other things, which then can only be judged in the context of still other things- eventually circling around to form an infinite loop. It is not fair to hold others to your personal standards since they were created through your own subjective experience. It is only fair to judge relative to the standards of whoever is being judged.

There is no objective meaning. It simply can not be so. Because of the illusion of meaning, which can only be derived from a sense of false knowing that leans upon itself to form its very foundation, there appears to be separation. It appears that people do things other than what can simply be put as “peopling”. Separation is but a grand delusion. Language creates this false knowledge. Articulate thought, as it can be called, that we “civilized”, “intelligent”, and “rational” human beings believe puts us as superior to all other life-forms, has it’s entire mode of operation founded upon division! The only truth is the whole. Anything divided is simply an illusion that is holding itself up by its own bootstraps!

I urge everyone not to simply read and rationalize this. Don’t just take in what I’ve written, take it further and try it out for yourself. Integration is extremely important. If you don’t agree, that’s fine, but I ask you if only for one day, or one week, or one month- stop looking at things and immediately dividing, categorizing, and judging. Try switching the focus from content to context. The big leap in awareness is the switch from an EXCLUSIVE perspective to an INCLUSIVE perspective. Instead of operating with fear and tension in control, let love, compassion, and relaxation be your guides to more expansive states of understanding. It will require constant awareness to change preconditioned patterns, but if only for a day’s experiment, it’s more than worth the effort.

Reality rests in your hands.

As Ghandi said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

Hello and a Poem

Hello everyone!

My name's Michael, and I'm posting from Burbank, Ca. This is my first post, so I hope you all like it! It's a poem that I wrote a couple months back. I thought I might find an apt audience here. Enjoy.

Experience

Sensations mapped onto mind-made-matrices,
Echoing interference patterns, perpetually propelled, rippling throughout.

Reverberations.

The wellspring is founded on its nearest neighbor,
“Let me lean on you” it commands, subtly, unnoticed.
It goes on leaning, lending ideas of meaning.

Concepts.

Emotions navigated,
Reactions based on previous patterns, imprinted reverberations,
Still echoing into eternity ever-rewriting the matrices; the maps.
Conditionings, subtle, unnoticed; just echoes.

Imprints.

Memories re-experienced in ignorance,
Unrecognized; Thought to be external stimulation.
Navigation through previous programs, or new experiences?

Provocation.

Collectively protesting acceptance of Grandeur,
Pushings and pullings; graspings, aversions;
Born into societal perversions.
Hierarchal projections, professions, corrections, repressions.
Whoring away infinite potential.
Forgetting the unconscious desire to ignore; we drift into separation, gladly.

Floating.

Cosmic conduit; constricted, controlled, contracted, closed
The Media-cracy destroys, societal faux-joys conjure and deploy,
Girls and boys, Saturated in a Sea of Impotence.

Lies.

Negativity; conservatives conserving nothing but comfort based on past identity.
The infinite defined as, attached to, experiences gone, of presents that have passed.
Tomorrow is an excuse for the obtuse to use.
Floating on life rafts made of meaning to keep from drowning,
In this ocean of truth.
You continue to weave the fabric of yourself; only in the Mind.

Systems.

Antique worries come in flurries,
Basic needs seem to supersede those of lofty goals,
We need ascenders, understanding and kind, anti-contenders reaching up high.

Love.

Thinking requires division; language is rotten with fission,
And reading is scanning line by line.
You’re taking your time, yet reality is instantaneous.

Now.

Universal gestalts fall apart, the whole is decried,
And simultaneous apprehension is muddled with externally projected intentions.

Crumbling.

Reverberate, echo; interference patterns infinitely complex,
Suppress yourSelf into the unconscious for sake of fear.

Fear of Grandeur.

Realization destroys destruction.
Understanding annihilates apprehension.
But without constrictions, controls, structures, and poles
It’s one ever-flowing ever-present manifold.

One.

It’s too much to handle for fear of individual dissolution.
Attachments, feelings, personality, experiences crumble into the solution,
Absorbed back into the ether.

Vibrations.

Ideas. Echoes. Reverberations, waves, holographic frequencies, imprints, and memories.

You are not your experience,
You are not your ideas,
You are not your words,
You are not your thoughts,
You are not your fucking conditioning!

Masks.

You are not echoes of a moment dissolved.

The present is eternal, infinite; purely aware.
Neither going nor coming, leaving nor staying,

‘I’,
Dissolve away.

Blessed Be! Day = Night

Ah yes, the Spring Equinox arrived again, and the days will soon appear longer than the nights (yippee!)

The new edition of Maybe Quarterly has now appeared online, for your enjoyment.

Plenty of music from DJ Fly, sweet art from Bobby, a fascinating piece by Kent on Book-binding of Grimoires, etc, poetry from several people...another piece from Paul Krassner...why not go take a look?

I came across a delightful Ecological Calendar when looking for an Equinox image to cheer up your day (even if several images I have used just got lifted from the web, and not always properly credited. I try, but I don't feel like a legal purist about images found in Google).

Still, visit the Ecological Calendar site (created by Antenna Theatre, who also sell furniture, greetings cards (at left), etc.

IN-JOKE: for those of you doing Antero Alli's course, it might amuse you that Antenna Theatre's Intro page says they RECEIVE - TRANSFORM - TRANSMIT Pretty smart, huh?

Interplay of Fallen Angels

We finally find ourselves in Day One of Antero Alli's new online course for the MLA, ANGEL TECH: The 8-Circuit Brain in Theory and Practice
and he has posted the first assignments and projects in the relevant forum. Although he recommends certain published books as source material, he confirmed that virtually everything you need will appear as links to Web material, or privately posted material for students.

This week's stuff already looks beautifully conceived and presented to me, so it feels as though the course has a strong hand at the wheel - and now the students have started to gather and introduce themselves - a good-looking mixture of new faces and MLA regulars (the Academy started on 23rd July 2004).

This blog represents students (paying customers) so don't mistake a recommendation for an advertisement. If you want something stimulating to get involved in, which might even increase your intelligence (however you define that), why not check this syllabus out?

Suprising Information?

Long-time Maybe'ers and RAW fans are probably not strangers to the concept of "information equals suprise." Lately though, I've kind of found this idea a little... inaccurate might be the word. Not that there isn't a certain amount of truth to it, but suprise only gets you so far. If something is truly unexpected, do we have the framework to comprehend it? And if we don't comprehend it, is it really useful to think in terms of information?

Another favorite author of mine, Robert Pirsig, develops an idea in his book Lila (the follow-up to Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance), of static vs. dynamic. Too far into the dynamic range and things tend to break down, almost reminiscent of the "grey goo" scenario for nanotechnology that's gotten attention in recent years. Too far into the static range, and you have a tradition-bound, rigid environment that can't face anything unexpected. I think this idea has a certain amount of usefulness when thinking about RAW's "information = suprise" concept. Truly suprising strings of characters, when you didn't have any idea whatsoever what might come next, would, it seems to me, be pretty much incomprehensible. But in order to have information content, you would need some element of suprise, otherwise you're just repeating what you already know... kind of like a story that read:
This is the first sentence of my first paragraph of my story. This is the second sentence of the first paragraph of my story.
So, it's not that I really disagree that "information = suprise" but more that I think the concept needs a little more clarification. Perhaps that information would seem to be made up of a communication medium that follows certain guidelines to direct our thinking towards the suprise, or new content we didn't expect. It reminds me a little of a quote I always liked in (I think this is where I saw it) Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five, critizing Einstein's theory, e=mc2, that there needs to be an A in there for AWARENESS, without which the others don't really matter. If information is totally suprise, we'd be almost stuck in a state of total amazement. I think a better way to think of it would be as a symphony, with some notes that are more dynamic, some that are more static, that together create the "warp and weave" of the music.
